Skylux – Automated Storage System for Glass Panels
Skylux was looking for a solution for storing glass panels for skylight domes. The system needed not only to optimize storage capacity but also to support quality control and ensure a smooth supply to the assembly area.
Automatic Glass Buffer
- Glass dimension control
- Scratch detection on glass
- High capacity with double distribution trolley
- Storage of multiple glass panels in a single slot
- Layout tailored to the customer’s facility
In consultation with Tryma, two options were considered: a manual storage system and an automated one. Skylux ultimately chose the many advantages of the automated solution. The glass is first placed on a roller conveyor with backlighting, allowing any scratches to be detected immediately before the glass reaches assembly. The system then checks whether the height and width match the data from the database, enabling early detection of discrepancies. The glass panels are then automatically stored in buffer slots and transported to the assembly hall on demand. Thanks to the trolley-driven slot system, multiple glass panels can be stored in a single slot, maximizing capacity and space usage.
With this automated storage system, Skylux now has a solution that seamlessly combines quality control, storage, and logistics. The system detects discrepancies at an early stage, prevents errors during assembly, and optimizes the use of available space. In addition, operators always have a clear overview of the machine and the current buffer status.
