The Future of Window and Door Production is… Robotics and Automation

“At Polyclose, we showcase the possibilities of robotics and automation to our customers,” says Dennis Koning of Tryma Netherlands. Together with Jasper Neirynck of Tryma Belgium, he will be present at the trade fair, where they aim to offer companies a solution to the ongoing staff shortage.

“The shortage of skilled workers remains a major challenge; we see it everywhere, and it is not something that can be easily solved,” says Dennis Koning. “We notice the same in Belgium,” adds Jasper Neirynck. “Our customers are not only facing a lack of qualified staff, but also rising labor costs and an aging workforce.”

Robotics as a Solution

According to Koning, the production of windows and doors is still fairly traditional at many companies. “Compared to the automotive industry, robotics is still rarely used. Many of our customers have already invested in front-end processes such as profile machining and cutting, but there is still a great deal to gain in the rest of the production chain—and that is where Tryma can help.”

Jasper Neirynck adds: “Thinking along with our customers, providing tailored advice, and supporting them in automation is what we do. We see that companies lose a lot of time on logistics tasks such as picking up, storing, and moving products. By automating these processes, the time saved can be dedicated to actual production. Tryma’s principle is that one operator at a workstation should be able to carry out all necessary tasks independently.”

“The element should come to the operator, rather than the operator walking around searching for it,” Koning continues. “We also apply robotics within production itself—for example, using robotic arms for the automatic installation of hardware components or the insertion of gaskets. Another major advantage is ergonomics: staff are relieved of heavy or repetitive work, making their jobs more comfortable. This enables employees to stay in their roles longer, while companies also benefit from reduced healthcare costs. The lighter the workload, the smaller the risk of absenteeism due to physical strain.”

Tailor-Made Logistics Solutions

“Every company has its own unique requirements and budget. To best meet our customers’ needs, we established Tryma Poland, where we manufacture our own logistics solutions,” says Jasper Neirynck. “We design the customer’s layout and integrate our own transport and buffer systems, either manual or automated. As Tryma is also a dealer of other manufacturers, we can offer a complete production line. We advise our customers on the optimal process layout and, if needed, provide the necessary control software. Many companies still believe they must make significant investments to optimize production, but that is not the case. Even a modest investment can make a big difference.”

Dennis Koning adds: “Although robotics may still sound like something for the future, much is already possible today. Our goal is not just to sell the right machines; we want to provide companies with a fully functional solution. Visitors to Polyclose are therefore warmly invited to speak with us without obligation. At the trade fair, we can demonstrate exactly what we mean by optimizing the production process.”
